From Stresa you can catch regular ferries around the Borromean Bay (to the Borromean Islands, Baveno, Pallanza, Villa Taranto and Intra). For this area there are special Rover Tickets which allow you to hop on and off the ferries all day and are excellent value for money if you want a day island hopping. These are also available with discounted entrance tickets to the Isola Bella and Isola Madre.
From Easter to mid-October there are ferries from Stresa to towns at the north end of the lake (Cannobio, Ascona and Locarno) and south to Arona.
There is a car ferry service between Intra and Laveno which runs every 20 minutes.
Stresa has a second ferry station at the lido in Carciano which has a limited service to the Isola Bella from Easter to mid-October.
Ferry tickets can be bought at the ferry station ticket offices as well as at Tomassucci Viaggi where fluent English is spoken. Their office is opposite the ferry station in Stresa.
